About Misty Mt Shelties

Welcome to Misty Mount Shelties! I have loved dogs since I was in diapers, and was given a
collie puppy as a toddler by my grandmother. My father was career Air Force so I grew up
traveling and moving often. Sadly, that often meant I had to give up my dog in order to move away.

As an adult and mother of a 5 year old son, I purchased my first Sheltie puppy who we named “Katie” and
my love affair with the breed began. “Katie” was spayed and was our beloved pet going with us wherever
we went. Three years later, I had the good fortune to purchase a lovely 2 year old female named “Tiffany”
and with consent from her breeder, bred my first litter of Shelties in 1990. “Tiffany’s” little granddaughter,
Dyna is still here with me today! I was hooked, what a joy raising puppies was for me. Over the years I have
learned a lot from other knowledgeable and reputable breeders, and at times by making mistakes and
learning the hard way. Although, we have tried other breeds over the years, I’m still in love with the
Shetland Sheepdog! It’s been 23 years since I purchased my first one and I pray I never have to live a day
without them!

Today my 'little' boy is 29 years old and dedicated to seving his country as a Navy Seabee,
he is married with 3 children and currently stationed in Gulfport, MIssissippi.

I’ve been a member of the Greater Charlotte Shetland Sheepdog Club since 1995 and joined the
Piedmont Kennel Club in 1997. During that time, I have held the office of President, Secretary,
Treasurer and Show Chair and also been an officer of the Piedmont Kennel Club for 2 years.
I encourage you to get involved with a local breed club of your choice and learn all you can about
your chosen breed!

After my mother's death, I began to research family history and was amazed at what I discovered.
I am descended from 24 Revolutionary War Soldiers and Patriots, and also learned that my family
has fought in every war this country has ever had. My father, my husband, and my son are all war
veterans! I am now a proud member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and a member
of the Alexandriana Chapter in Huntersville, NC. www.dar.org

I am also a member of the Catawba Valley Scottish Society and participate in the Loch
Norman Scottish Festival every April and also volunteer as a docent teaching the historic way of life at
Rural Hill in Huntersville, NC.  www.ruralhill.net
